The Conference The 24th annual West Texas Turfgrass & Irrigation Conference and Trade Show is just around the corner. The dates are October 25-27. The cost is $150 per person, which includes 2011 membership dues or $120 per person for those who just want to attend the conference. This year's conference will be at The Coliseum in Snyder. The headquarters hotel will be the Holiday Inn Express. The annual golf tournament and barbecue will be Monday, October 25 at Sammy Baugh Golf Course at Western Texas College. There will be a morning shotgun and an afternoon shotgun. The cost is $30 per player. The barbecue will be at The Coliseum and is complimentary to say "Thank You" to all the members who make the association work. The trade show and silent auction will be open on Monday before the barbecue and Tuesday. Turfgrass sessions will be on Tuesday, and irrigation sessions on Wednesday. Once more pesticide applicators and licensed irrigators will be able to earn CEUs toward their license renewal. Education points through GCSAA will also be offered. Hours for the trade show and silent auction will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday and from the morning break to the afternoon break on Tuesday. ___________________________ The Coliseum
The Coliseum has been the premiere gathering place for Scurry Countians for four decades. The Coliseum arena is the home to festivals, concerts and collegiate athletics. The adjoining annex hosts both agricultural and livestock events. Western Texas College took over operations in June, 2008 and immediately started a facelift to modernize the stately venue. One prime strategy is in place as the college proceeds with its plans for the facility. WTC wants to increase utilization with events that will introduce visitors to the great hospitality of West Texas and to provide the citizens of Scurry County a gathering place for a variety of events. The facility has great parking and is near Route 84 which connects Snyder with Lubbock and Sweetwater. Interstate 20 is only 25 miles away. Snyder is located in the center of the Golden Triangle between Midland/Odessa, Lubbock and Abilene. Hotel information can be found in the conference brochure. __________________________
