Superintendent - The City of Altus, Oklahoma is seeking a golf course superintendent. This position is responsible for the everyday operation of the golf course maintenance department.  This position requires the ability to supervise, administrative and computer skills.  This position also requires the use of a wide variety of equipment including various mowers, tractors, weed eaters, trenchers, backhoes, dump trucks, and any specialty equipment required in the maintenance of the golf course.  This position must work with mechanics to ensure proper maintenance of course equipment including oil changes, lubing, reel maintenance, engine repair and all other required maintenance.  This position also requires a pesticide applicator license and is responsible for all fertilizer and pesticide application for the course. This position is also responsible for the scheduling and training of the course employees as well as budgeting and tracking expenses.  Superintendent is also responsible for working with the Director to prepare the course for special events. Salary - $14.70/hr (min) - $24.09/hr (max); Open to Full/Part Time Employees & Public. Closes Wednesday, February 10, 2010 @ 5:00 p.m.

Position Description Summary - Responsible for assisting in the operation of the Golf Course Maintenance department. The responsibilities include: turf grass/plant material maintenance programs, property/asset management, personnel management, member relations, scheduling/maintenance or irrigation systems, pesticide applications, related recordings, and compliance of regulatory issues.  Kingwood Country Club is a 72-hole facility that consists of the Island, Lake, Marsh and Forest courses.

Essential Functions and Accountabilities:

• Assist Golf Course Superintendent in providing agronomic direction for the healthy growth of the golf course grasses, trees, wetlands, and other plant materials.

• Supervise the application and recording of chemical applications on the Marsh Course in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

• Supervise the safe use and maintenance of the golf course mechanical equipment.

• Interact with the Golf Professional to maximize the number of rounds of golf played, and to schedule maintenance practices around Member play and outings to maximize efficiency.

• Ensure that staff is working within OSHA, club safety, state and federal guidelines for safe working conditions. Provide technical, operational and safety training for employees.

• Maintain the golf course at the highest quality possible at all times.

• Fills in to perform all functions in routine Golf Course Maintenance activities as needed or as directed by Golf Course Superintendent.

Job Requirements:

Work Experience - 3 - 5 years in Golf Course Maintenance; Minimum 1 year as an Asst. Superintendent or Technician at a high quality facility.

Education -M in. 2-year College Degree in Turf Grass Management or related field. BS preferred.

Certification/License - TDA Pesticide Applicators License or ability to obtain

Salary - $30,000 - $35,000 / year
